Went out yesterday in a park to test the brushless combo.
After about 10 minutes of speeding around on grass the motor was kind of warm to the touch, so I took the program card and set the timing to lowest. ( less heat and longer battery life - quote from the ESC manual ). That didn't really help. The motor seemed to get even warmer.
I've been doing some reading and it seems I'm undergeared although it's hard to believe. On the contrary it seems to me it's overgeared. I'm using a 21T pinion and stock spur.
Motor Turnigy 3665-2300KV.
ESC Trackstar 150A.

What's the opinion of the e-sav gurus ?!?. I want to go today and get a new pinion but I can't really decide ....

Hi everybody this is my first post and I want to get an e-savage to add to my collection. I own a wheely king 4x4 bought in 2007, one tough little truck! I want something that is a good all around basher something that I can take to the local parks and baseball fields to have fun with. I do not drive in wet or muddy conditions when I can help it but I would like something that also can take a bump or two. I drive with care and do maint. as needed. I am planning on running 2 5000mah nimh batts. in the truck and I do not plan on hopping it up. My WK is all original minus the stock motor that I had replaced from HPI. Any feedback would help and thanks. Peace.

Oh joy I got my new Spektrum DX3E remote. Installed the receiver and servo in my pretty much stock e-sav and calibrated the hell out of it. Did a lot of indoor testing and everything was working super.
So it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon so I took the truck for a spin in the park. After about 20 minutes of fooling around the truck suddenly steered about 15 degrees to the right ...
I brought it back to me and picked it up for inspection. In that moment i heard a small puffy noise, the lipo alarm started screaming and one of the ESC deans melted off instantly. Obviously I ripped everything apart to protect the lipos.

I went home and tested the receiver, servo and batteries. All of them are okay.
Just the ESC stinks like burned. By the way the ESC is a blue traxxas EVX-2.
After fooling around with the multimeter it seems that the BEC side of the ESC is shorted out.
What could have triggered such a nasty reaction?
Too much draw from the new servo? It's a Spektrum S200 and the specs are almost the same with the stock SF-2 servo.
The ESC is about 3-4 years old and I can't say I abused it. No water, snow etc..... I cracked it open and there's no visible burned stuff, but everything is coated with some rock solid transparent epoxy stuff.

With this occasion I guess it's time to move to brushless power.
Could you guys recommend me a european vendor from whom to get a cheapy brushless combo that would fit the stock chassis and push the e-sav around without overheating and stuff ?
Hobbyking has a european warehouse but no esc's or motors.

Thanks in advance guys.

Hey guys. I have a problem with my baja. I landed badly off a ramp yesterday and the engine won't restart properly. It hit nose 1st in the dirt and then flipped on the roof.
It must have been rough because I cracked a front shock support and put 2 big dents in the exhaust pipe. The spark plug wire was pressed pretty hard against the engine also. If I prime the engine it will run after about 30+ pulls and die within a few seconds. I can usually get this truck to run with 3 or so pulls. At one point I got the engine to run full throttle and it stayed running for about a minute and died while at full. I don't get it.
The engine is a Fuelie 23cc and the Baja is a King Motor. When it ran it ran like a dream.
Here is what I tried so far.
-Because the of squashed wire I wanted to see if it was still getting spark.I pulled the plug from the engine, connected it to the wire and pull the pull cord. It puts of a lot of spark. One thing I did notice before I starting removing anything was when I tried to hold the truck down to start if my hand way close to the plug wire I would get a shock. Is this normal?
- I removed the lines from the gas tank to look at the filter and it seemed fine. I only ran 2 tanks of fuel so far so I figures it would be clean.
- I removed the outer air filter layer and cleaned it. Nothing.
- I checked the fuel lined for dirt or airlock. Everything it clear.
I think I am either not getting enough fuel to the engine because of some kind of carb./engine damage or the sudden impact screwed up the settings/timing. It could be a damaged plug wire. I can't figure it out.
Anyone have any ideas. I spend about 4 hours today trying. I dont want to have to buy another engine yet, lol.
Thank guys. Any help on this would be awesome.

Hi guys.
I have a couple of old Zippy 4000 2S 25C which I was charging in series for a long time now. The main charge series cable and the balancing adapter are made by yours truly.
Now here's the problem. Just got from hoobyking a couple of hardcased zippy 5000 2S 20C. As usual I connected the main charge lead to the batteries and to the charger, but when I tried to connect the series balancing lead to the second battery I got lots of sparky, sparky.
Basically I followed the same procedure as with the old batts but with different results. If I connect the batteries individually to the charger everything work A OK.

Before this all I checked all the batteries's leads with a multimeter just to be sure that + is + and - is -, you know what I mean. Charger is a Turnigy accucell 6.

Any of you got any idea what could have happened ? Now I'm afraid to connect back in series.

whatsup everybody, sorry to say i havent got much time for this forum, not to mention candlepowerforums, rcgroups and whatnot. physics and chemistry at uni just 'sux' too much time.

I recall there was someone from singapore inhere? aw, too late, but what an awesome bird park they have there! and gee what a climate! I also saw a giant bird park near surabaya, suba kato or whatever. Yeah im a cheap birder (unlike like Owen in 'The Big Year'). I saw a toki/tucan there and boy are those amazingly cute!

and within 3 days i looked like a pink-footed goose. or more likely resembling a strawberry yougurt. the amount of reading i had to do when i got home was shocking. it was atomic and ionic madness, well i get what i deserve i suppose.

2 days after we left, a smoke alarm went off, yikes! so while in Jakarta, using skype i call certain people, only to find out that a locksmith refuse to open up unless im there in person - or the police is there. Then I call the police, and get told that they will only show up if there is a fire. stupid! If there was a fire i would call the fire department. So later it turns out that its a just spare smoke alarm inside a shoe closet that happened to have a battery in it. Thank god, but at least we had our birds taken care of by a good family member. if not, the darn smoke alarm could have made them go nutz. well, i managed to get the locksmith to open, for a swift 120USd of course. well spent, i suppose.

Lori birds are just soo cute! im building a pretty funny voliere-like cage which can accompany all 4 birds and they dont have to fight over the swing(s). Se, it turned out that 3 birds sleeping on a swing dont particular like a 4th jumping onto the swing ;)

I decided to try something new, to get a haircut in a giant mall in Jakarta. That is the only time i have not complained that they didnt cut too much hair off my head (and didnt treat me like a fuckin sheep!). They actually cut too little, but they washed my hair twice, and were gentle in general.

Oh and when away acta was up! talk about 4 countries that go behind the population (USA, SGP, Dk and what was the 4th one anyway?). t'was pretty sick to notice 18 cameras and a single SGP metro station, and not one cop car anywhere to be seen. It was the other way around in indonesia, like usual they're everywhere and No cameras to be seen tho.

I carried a lighter thru 7 planes and finally got to Helsinki, this huge dude with long hair said I could not carry that on board. The same dude stared himself blind on a triple bagged the body shop green shampoo. haha, and im paranoid ?

It got to me, paranoid BREEDS paranoid. well now im back home where im not too tall, dont have too big feet, am not too blond, and...

am STILL NOT rich.

best regards to the folks that keep this place alive, wish i had the time too.
